Looks to be interesting but there densest appear to be any funding going on

Bad idea.
But to be honest, I'd help funding a few projects on Oppo. And I think the difference is that I "know" you guys. I'd trust one of you easier than a dude who put his Scirocco on a website to buy parts.
Let's buy CalzoneGolem antirust for his Rat!

Kickstarter for cars ONLY sounds good for the first 5 seconds. Then you quickly shift to, "Oh God, the worst idea has been discovered."
Taking a reductionist view, this is basically a non-deductible charity. The only thing worse than dumping money in your own money pit is throwing it in someone else's.
What are the tiers for this?
$1 - Get a thank you form email from me. (Est. Delivery - Immediately)
$10 - Get a before picture of the build via email. (Est. Delivery - In a week)
$25 - Get a physical picture before picture of the build via snail mail. (Est. Delivery - 4-6 weeks)
$100 - All previous tiers and a copy of a receipt from a part/tool I buy (Est. Delivery - some weekend where I get a chance to go to Advanced Auto)
$500 - Get a ride in the "finished" product, whatever that means. You are responsible for travel to and from the build. (Est. Delivery - No idea, maybe never)
$1000 - Test drive the car on a road of my choosing, finished or not. You are responsible for travel to and from the build. (Est. Delivery - No idea, maybe never)
$10000 - A full set of vacation photos from the trip I take with your money.
$20000 - Hell, take the damn thing as is. At least my garage clear up for me to start another project.

I basically tried this with a GTR.
I buy it now. When 25 years is up, I ship it to you.

Please don't... I will donate to have this Scirocco stay the way it was made!

There's another site like this called Funding Garage. Unless you're building a race car and selling sponsorship space on the car, I don't see the point in supporting somebody's build. I need all my money for my projects.
